Overview

Description

The Charles H Bronson Primitive Campsite is located within Charles H Bronson State Forest (Seminole County), about 40 miles east of Orlando, FL. These three primitive campsites are hike in and hike out sites only. There is no water or electricity at these sites. Each site has fire ring and picnic table. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, wildflower viewing and nature study.

Geography:

The Charles H. Bronson State Forest's most notable feature is the St. Johns River, which makes up part of the forest's eastern boundary. It is designated as an American Heritage River and, at 310 miles, is the longest river in Florida. The forest provides a crucial source of protection for wetlands and associated natural communities within the floodplain of the St. Johns River. Other natural communities include wet prairie, pine flatwoods, sandhill and cypress swamp. The forest supports a variety of wildlife, including deer, turkey, gray squirrel, alligator, Sherman's fox squirrel, gopher tortoise, bald eagle, roseate spoonbill, sandhill crane and wood stork. Recreation:

The forest is open during daylight hours for visitors to enjoy picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing and wildlife viewing. Access to the trails is available at one main trailhead at the end of Phillips Road and at a shared trailhead at the Chuluota Wilderness Area. Cancellations:

  • Cancellations can be made on the website and through the call center.
  • 1 or more days prior to arrival: $9 non-refundable cancellation fee.
  • Day of or after arrival, must be cancelled through the call center.
  • $9.00 plus the 1st night's use fee.
  • After the arrival date, $9 non-refundable cancellation fee, fees for the nights following the call will be refunded. No same night refunds.

    Refunds:

  • Credit Card refunds are automatically credited back to the original credit card and will take up to 3 - 5 business days to appear on the customer's statement.
  • The State Forest campgrounds cannot process refunds for reservations processed online or through the call center.
  • The State Forest can process refunds for cash or check payments made through walk-in office reservations and walk-up campsites. State Forest do not process any credit card refunds.
