The Florida Forest Service offers camping discounts for individuals age 65 and older, active-duty military or honorably discharged veterans, and for individuals 100% disabled at applicable camping facilities on Florida's State Forests. If you qualify for any of these discounts, please call the Reserve America Call Center at (877) 879-3859 and provide the appropriate document number (e.g., driver's license number; military ID number) to have the documentation added and your profile updated. Once this is complete, your discount will automatically apply upon checkout. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to verify documentation provided to Reserve America.

East Camp Zone Little Big Econ State Forest, FL

Description
The East Camp Zone is located within Little Big Econ State Forest (Seminole County), about 40 miles east of Orlando, FL. The East Camp Zone is only accessible by boat and has designated camp zones along the sand riverbanks to use. There is no water, electric or amenities... Recreational activities featured here are: boating, fishing, bird watching, wildlife viewing, wildflower viewing and nature study.The Little Big Econ State Forest's most notable feature is the narrow, winding Econlockhatchee River, which flows 17 miles through the forest and empties into the St. Johns River. The Econlockhatchee River is designated as an Outstanding Florida Waterway and is the second largest tributary to the St. Johns River The forest provides a crucial source of protection for wetlands and associated natural communities within the floodplains of the Econlockhatchee and St. Johns rivers. Other natural communities include wet prairie, pine flatwoods, sandhill and scrub. The forest supports a variety of wildlife, including deer, turkey, gray squirrel, alligator, Sherman's fox squirrel, gopher tortoise, bald eagle, roseate spoonbill, sandhill crane and wood stork.

Alerts and Important Information
East Camp Zone is not reservable and has no fee.
There is no drinking water, trash receptacles or restrooms in the East Camp Zone.
Alcohol is prohibited.
Pets are not recommended but if you do bring them they must stay on a leash.
Camping is accessible only by boat.
Campers are recommended to wear 500 square inches of Blaze Orange during the hunting season. Please review the Little Big Econ Wildlife Management Area brochure for hunting season dates before visiting the forest.
Be aware of snakes and alligators.
At certain times of year, the camp zones are not accessible due to high river levels.
Campfires/Firewood
Fires are permitted only on the sand river bank.
Charcoal or a camp stove may be needed depending on the amount of available dead and down wood in the area to use.
For firewood, use dead and down wood only from the area where you plan to burn it.
Cutting standing trees (alive or dead) is not permitted.
Leave No Trace
Please use the 6 suggested campzones at the East Camp Zone as much as possible.
Respect wildlife and be considerate of other visitors.
Pack out all trash, including all food and food waste.
Pet waste must be picked up and removed from the campsite.
