Description

Krul Campground is located within the Krul Recreation Area, in the Blackwater River State Forest (Santa Rosa County), about 1-hour northeast of Pensacola, FL. This campground is located on a 6.5-acre lake and has the following facilities: campsites with electricity and water (potable) for recreational vehicles or tents, dump station, restrooms and showers, swimming dock and pier. Recreational activities featured here are: swimming, picnicking, hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, nature study and photography. Don't miss the Sweetwater Hiking Trail that starts at the Krul parking lot and runs 1.3 miles to Bear Lake. The first half mile of trail is a handicapped accessible boardwalk with a suspension bridge over Sweetwater Creek. A gristmill is located along the boardwalk.

Geography:

Blackwater River State Forest is the largest state forest in Florida, with over 210,000 acres of woodlands, lakes, and streams that has outstanding forest and water resources. It is named for the Blackwater River, which begins in neighboring Conecuh County, Alabama, and meanders southwestward through the forest. With the adjacent federal landholdings of Conecuh National Forest, to the north, and Eglin Air Force Base, to the south, this area is the largest contiguous ecological community of the longleaf pine - wiregrass ecosystem in the world. Alerts and Important Information
Pets are not allowed at this facility. If a camper is incorrectly set up on your reserved campsite advise the Campground Host. If the Campground Host is not on site, courteously advise the camper that you have a reservation. Please have your reservation with you on your electronic device, or have a printed copy, or have your reservation number. Restrooms with showers are available. Krul Lake campground has electric sites available for recreational vehicles or tents. Alcohol is prohibited. Vehicles pulling a camper must be included in the total length of the unit when selecting sites. Vehicle with camper attached must fit completely in the site and not extend into the campground road.

Swimming rules at Krul:
  1. Drowning can easily occur in deep water
  2. Children must be accompanied by adults who diligently watch their children's activities in or near the water.
  3. Water is over the head of adults in many places inside the roped swimming area and throughout the lake.
  4. Swim at your own risk.
  5. Life vests save lives.
  6. When lightning, get out of water and seek shelter.
  7. No swimming outside roped areas.
  8. No swimming after dark.
  9. No diving in shallow areas.
  10. No horseplay
Krul Lake Recreation Area and its vicinity is in a non-hunting zone. During the main hunting season from Thanksgiving to mid February, it is recommended to wear fluorescent orange when traveling on trails away from Krul.
