Overview

Description

The Tidewater Campground is located adjacent to the Tidewater Trailhead, in the Goethe State Forest (Levy County), about 15 minutes northeast of Inglis, FL. This campground has the following facilities: campsites with no electric and no water, restrooms and a pavilion. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography.

Geography:

Goethe State Forest is over 53,000 acres of woodlands, swamps and drains that has an exceptionally large tract of contiguous hydric hammock. The forest has many old growth longleaf pine trees, and therefore has maintained a population of the endangered red cockaded woodpecker. Other rare animal species found on the forest include the Florida black bear, gopher tortoise, gopher frog, striped newts, Florida mice, Sherman's fox squirrel and bald eagle. Goethe State Forest has a campground, day-use areas and recreational trails that offer a variety of activities such as hiking, camping, nature study, birding, fishing, hunting, horseback riding and mountain biking. Cancellations:

  • Cancellations can be made on the website and through the call center.
  • 1 or more days prior to arrival: $9 non-refundable cancellation fee.
  • Day of or after arrival, must be cancelled through the call center.
  • $9.00 plus the 1st night's use fee.
  • After the arrival date, $9 non-refundable cancellation fee, fees for the nights following the call will be refunded. No same night refunds.

    Refunds:

  • Credit Card refunds are automatically credited back to the original credit card and will take up to 3 - 5 business days to appear on the customer's statement.
  • The State Forest campgrounds cannot process refunds for reservations processed online or through the call center.
  • The State Forest can process refunds for cash or check payments made through walk-in office reservations and walk-up campsites. State Forest do not process any credit card refunds.

    From US 19 / US 98 - Head east onto the CR 336.
    Continue on CR 336 for approximately 5 miles.
    Turn left onto CR 337.
    Turn right onto Saddle Pen Road and continue for 1/2 mile.

    From Bronson (Alt SR 27) - Head south on CR 337. Turn left onto the second Saddle Pen Road entrance. Continue for 1/2mile.

    From I-75 (Ocala) - Head west on FL40, then turnright on Highway 328 W. Next,turn right on US 41 N, then left onto NW 27th Street (CR 545). Turn left onto FL 121 S, then left again on CR 337. Continue on CR 337 for 6.2 miles, then turn left onto the second Saddle Pen Road entrance. Continue for 0.5 mile.
