Description
The Tidewater Campground is located adjacent to the Tidewater Trailhead, in the Goethe State Forest (Levy County), about 15 minutes northeast of Inglis, FL. This campground has the following facilities: campsites with no electric and no water, restrooms and a pavilion. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography.
Geography:
Goethe State Forest is over 53,000 acres of woodlands, swamps and drains that has an exceptionally large tract of contiguous hydric hammock. The forest has many old growth longleaf pine trees, and therefore has maintained a population of the endangered red cockaded woodpecker. Other rare animal species found on the forest include the Florida black bear, gopher tortoise, gopher frog, striped newts, Florida mice, Sherman's fox squirrel and bald eagle.
