Recreation Fees: Day Use Entrance Fee (per Person) $2, Annual Day Use Entrance Pass $45.
Trail Designations: Hiking Trails (2”x 6” Blazes): Yellow (Main Trail) , Orange (FNST) or (Blue (Connector Trail).
Horse Trails (6” Bands): Generally Blue Band but other colors in some locations.
Bicycle Trails ( 4” Circles): Colored Circles matching trail colors on map and Universal Biking Symbol.
Pet Guidelines: To ensure pets are compatible with other visitors and to protect our forest resources, all pet owners must follow the rules listed. Unless otherwise posted, leashed pets are allowed on hiking trails. Proof of rabies vaccination must be provided upon request. Keep all pets confined, leashed or otherwise under the physical control of a person at all times (excluding voice control). Maximum length of leash is 10 feet. Pets must be well behaved at all times. Pets may not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes. Pet owners must pick up after their pets and properly dispose of all pet waste in trash receptacles. Pets that are noisy, vicious, dangerous, disturbing or intimidating to forest visitors and other pets or that damage forest resources are considered to be nuisances and will not be permitted to remain in the forest.
Group Guidelines: All groups of 6 or more people planning a trip to the forest must first call the
Visitor Center for a State Forest Use Permit. All group activities including trail use, four-wheel drive riding, events & overnight camping (including Primitive Camp Zones) require a permit. In addition, all groups charging a fee to rent equipment/horses or lead/guide visitors on the forest must have a State Forest Use Permit.
