The Florida Forest Service offers camping discounts for individuals age 65 and older, active-duty military or honorably discharged veterans, and for individuals 100% disabled at applicable camping facilities on Florida's State Forests. If you qualify for any of these discounts, please call the Reserve America Call Center at (877) 879-3859 and provide the appropriate document number (e.g., driver's license number; military ID number) to have the documentation added and your profile updated. Once this is complete, your discount will automatically apply upon checkout. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to verify documentation provided to Reserve America.

Description

The Maple Set Campground is located within the Maple Set Recreation Area, in the John M. Bethea State Forest (Baker County), about 30 minutes north of Sanderson, FL. This campground is located next to the St. Mary's River and has the following facilities: campsites with no electricity or water, a communal pitcher pump (non-potable water), swimming area, a boardwalk and hiking trail. Recreational activities featured here are: fishing, hiking, hunting, swimming, canoeing, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography.

Geography:

John M. Bethea State Forest has over 37,000 acres of woodlands, 3 miles of river frontage, and establishes a continuous wildlife corridor between the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and the Osceola National Forest. John M. Bethea State Forest is home to Florida black bears, river otters and bobcats. Bird species include hawks, wood storks, bald eagles, grasshopper sparrows and sandhill cranes. Cancellations:

  • Cancellations can be made on the website and through the call center.
  • 1 or more days prior to arrival: $9 non-refundable cancellation fee.
  • Day of or after arrival, must be cancelled through the call center.
  • $9.00 plus the 1st night's use fee.
  • After the arrival date, $9 non-refundable cancellation fee, fees for the nights following the call will be refunded. No same night refunds.

Refunds:

  • Credit Card refunds are automatically credited back to the original credit card and will take up to 3 - 5 business days to appear on the customer's statement.
  • The State Forest campgrounds cannot process refunds for reservations processed online or through the call center.
  • The State Forest can process refunds for cash or check payments made through walk-in office reservations and walk-up campsites. State Forest do not process any credit card refunds.

Maple Set Campground Entrance: Take Exit 333 off I - 10, head north on County Road 125 (9.8 miles),Turn right onto County Road 127 (10.1), Turn right onto State Road 2 then immediately left back onto County Road 127(0.4 miles), Turn right on to John Burnsed Road and follow signs to campground.

Hunt Camp Entrance:Take Exit 333 off I - 10, head north on County Road 125 (15.0 miles),Turn right onto County Road 250 (1.1 miles), the road will fork and become a county dirt road Eddy Grade – Stay left at the fork and continue 4.0 miles until you reach Forest Road 14 on your right, Turn right onto Forest Road 14 and continue 0.5 miles and the campsite will be on the right marked with campsite sign post.
